Theatre for One Home

LARSON LAB, New York Theatre Workshop, April 2003.

Three fifteen minute plays were performed in rotation for one audience member at a time. The plays were: EARLSTREETMAN, by Courtney Baron, performed by Michael Chernus, DEFUSION, by Brooke Berman (http://www.brookeberman.net, http://www.moregathering.blogspot.com), performed by Yvonne Woods and Brooke Berman, and an excerpt from A BOOK OF HARSH GEOMETRY, performed and written by Victor Lodato. Audience members were directed into the theatre one at a time, which was empty except for the Theatre for One Booth lit and standing in the middle of the stage. The audience followed instructions received at the entrance and then taped on the door, to guide them to their seat. Once seated, regular theatrical conventions, such as pre-show music and houselights fading, were used to put the person at ease.

Directed by Christine Jones with Sound Design by Marcus Stern, Costume Consultation by Maiko Satsushima, and Lighting by John Viesta. Special Thanks to Jennifer Rae our Stage Manager, Larry Ash the Production Manager, Kevin Young, Jim Nicola, Lynn Moffat, Linda Chapman, Jack Doulin, the Larson Lab Artists, and the technical support staff at NYTW.
